Congratulations to Peter Saxton, the first pilot in the UK to pass his Multi-Engine Class Rating on the Tecnam twin.

John Hartill, Airways Flying Club's Head of Training presents Peter with his MEP Certificate.
Peter now plans to enjoy regular pleasure runs over to France in the safety, comfort and affordability of the Tecnam twin.
Although a skilled helicopter pilot, serving in both the RAF and at British Airways Helicopters, Peter now really enjoys flying 'fixed wing' aeroplanes and has been a member of Wycombe Air Park's Airways Flying Club since 1994. When not in the air, Peter's energy is directed to co-running Capstick Saxton Associates, a leading consultancy specialising in offering outsourced HR support, and advice and support in boosting organisational performance through skilled co-operative Working. http://www.capsticksaxton.com/
Here's Peter's comments on this P2006T training experience.
''Having had no experience of asymmetric flying before, I thought about the course knowing it might well be a stretch. But the plane looks like a dream, the cabin looks sumptuous, and the enthusiasm of everyone associated with the project at AFC was certainly infectious. So, I signed up for the conversion and got down to the pre-course reading.
The first sortie was a surprise indeed. I had been told the aircraft was quiet and smooth, but I was unprepared for exactly how quiet and smooth. Most surprising however, was when Tim throttled back one engine in the climb; with little input from me she went right on climbing, and pretty much in a straight line. They're not supposed to do that, are they? Well, this one does!
The course was one of the most enjoyable I have ever experienced. It was a focused blend of theory and technology in the briefings, immediately translated into practical experience in the training flights that followed. It builds logically to produce increasing levels of both competence and confidence. I booked a series of days that were close enough together to ensure continuation was not a problem, but with sufficient time between sessions to be able to consolidate the book-work. The ground and flying tests were thorough and fair tests of the course, and I passed on my birthday, which was one heck of a nice present!''
