The IFR Certified Tecnam P Twenty-Ten brings together an advanced technology all carbon fibre fuselage with a metal wing to deliver a superlative single engined, 4 seat aeroplane, designed by Italy's most innovative Aerospace design 'guru' Professor Luigi Pascale.
Powered by the well proven and reliable Lycoming IO-360-M1a ( “Lycoming Light” ) engine, providing 180HP at 2700 rpm. The Tecnam P Twenty-Ten has a high fuel capacity (240 litres). The fuel tanks are installed in the wing box, behind the main spar, to preserve their integrity in case of an accident. Of course carbon fibre equals a lighter and therefore more fuel efficient aeroplane.
Tecnam has always put the comfort for both pilots and passengers first. The Tecnam P Twenty-Ten with its spacious interior and its generous luggage compartment of 300 litres has been designed to be both a very enjoyable aeroplane to fly cross country as well as being a robust trainer. The cabin width also allows for a large instrument panel, with its modular design specifically tailored to allow customers to fit either an analogue or digital instrumentation package. Standard IFR fits comprise either Garmin 1000 or Garmin 500.
The Lycoming IO-360-Mia is certified to run on both avgas 100LL and also on MOGAS, so even with a Lycoming you can now have a much reduced fuel bill !
With three personnel doors, the passengers now have their own entrance / exit without having to clamber over, round, through the pilots’ seats. Additionally, there is a separate baggage door so that you don’t have to throw items over your heads and shoulders ! The interior accommodation of the P2010 has to be seen to be believed. It is not only very quiet (carbon fibre fuselage) but also has huge real estate for both the pilots and the rear seat passengers alike.
The choice of basic trim level and Premium Edition trim level caters for the more utilitarian flight school requirements and also for the more plush needs of a private owner. Similarly, a large range of stripes and paint colours are there for you to bespoke your aeroplane’s looks.
Avionics suites are chosen from Garmin 500 or Garmin 1000. The integrated Garmin GFC700 autopilot system is also available, as is the Garmin TAS system. Furthermore, you can choose either a fixed-pitch or variable pitch propeller to pull you along at around 130 knots. With 240 litres of fuel, this aircraft has long legs, too !
The Tecnam P2010 is the first new high wing four seat aeroplane to fall off any major production line in around 40 years. It embodies 40+ years of experience from other manufacturers, schools and owners. The Tecnam family has been building aeroplanes since 1948 and after listening to customers’ requirements, has embodied several lifetime’s experience into the P2010. It’s a world-beater and is selling worldwide extremely well in both its first and second years.
Tecnam UK (sales) Ltd already has three customers for the P2010; two private owners and one flight school. The first delivery was appropriately registered G-TTEN. Please see the FLYER article below which reports on the delivery flight from Tecnam’s Italian factory, to UK
Peter Collins, Test Pilot from Flightglobal said “The P2010 impressed me from the outset. It looks, feels and flies like a modern aircraft and does represent a step change in this type of four-seat GA aircraft design. I believe the Tecnam P2010 significantly exceeds the “flyability”, “useability” and “survivability” of the Cessna Skyhawks and Skylanes and equals them on affordability. The P2010 was genuinely a real pleasure to fly and future owners will be inspired by the aircraft’s combination of advanced avionics, very short field performance, exceptional useful load capability and excellent cross-country range. If I could trade my own Piper Arrow IV Turbo, the P2010 is the aircraft I would buy”.
